Filling an Urn Pendant

Filling an urn pendant is relatively easy, but it is worthwhile preparing a little beforehand.  We offer two types of pendants.

  • With a glass vial inside
  • Without the glass vial

There is a slight difference in filling the types of urns.

URN PENDANTS WITH A GLASS VIAL INSIDE

The tools you might need:

  • A clean work area.  A clean desk or table with plenty of light would be ideal
  • Urn Contents.  This could be cremation ashes, hair, fur, a dried flower or any dry non-corrosive substance that has meaning to you
  • Teaspoon.  This will help you transfer the ashes to the funnel
  • Funnel – With all our memorial urn jewellery we provide you with a funnel and a small tamper
  • Glue – this is to seal the top of the urn to the jewellery.  We provide a small tube of glue

Filling the Urn

Use the enclosed funnel, where necessary, fill the vial to just below stopper level and then tamp down with the silver tamper.

Keeping the vial vertical, apply a thin bead of the enclosed SuperGlue all around the inside of the top of the vial (please see the diagram below) and then immediately press the stopper firmly into place.

Insert the vial into the pendant body with the stopper uppermost.

To ensure the cap stays fixed to the pendant, we suggest applying a thin bead of SuperGlue all the way around the inside of the top section of the pendant and immediately press the two parts of the pendant together.

NOTE: Please ensure that you place the silver cap in the correct position, in line with the hand cut shape. As once the cap is pushed into place with the glue, you cannot take it off to re-position.

HOLLOW URN PENDANTS WITH SCREW ON CAP

The tools you might need:

  • A clean work area.  A clean desk or table with plenty of light would be ideal
  • Urn Contents.  This could be cremation ashes, hair, fur, a dried flower or any dry non-corrosive substance that has meaning to you
  • Teaspoon.  This will help you transfer the ashes to the funnel
  • Funnel – With all our memorial urn jewellery we provide you with a funnel and a small tamper

Filling the Urn Pendant

Use the enclosed funnel, fill the urn nearly to the top with ashes, or place a twist of hair or fur inside the urn and then tamp down with the silver tamper.

Once you are happy that you have enough contents, screw the cap firmly back in place.

With the Sterling Silver Abalone and Rose Gold Tree of Life Urn Pendant, we also enclose a small screwdriver to remove the stopper screw in the back on the pendant.

Your pendant is now ready to wear.

We strongly recommend that you do not disassemble the pendant unless you wish to add further contents, as this may wear the surface of the pendant and degrade the precision fit.

We also recommend that you keep a similar portion of the contents of the vial for the long term, just in case the pendant is lost or stolen.
